President’s Message
It is truly amazing how relevant our events are. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the February talk about the UAB transplant capabilities. Despite working in a dialysis clinic as my first job after graduating, I really was quite unaware and left the talk with a wealth of knowledge. Who knew, less than two weeks later, the first person I would meet after returning from over a week away, would be a woman waiting to see if her son was a match to give her a kidney. They are doing everything at UAB and we had a discussion about the Chain – if you bring in a possible donor and it isn’t a match, you will be much higher on the list for another donor while your donor will then be available to help another person waiting. What are the odds?
Our next event is at Blazer Kitchen. While learning about another remarkable UAB offering, you can also bring an item to help. We will also have some important business – electing officers for 2019-2020. Please be present so that we will have a quorum of 25.
How lucky we all are to be part of this nationally ranked University! Hope to see you all soon – Judy
